I decided to go back to Staples one more time, as it occurred to me that I hadn't shown an example of the wire-type binding. This is actually my favorite binding, as it lies flat (unlike web-binding), and isn't as fragile as plastic comb-binding can be.
Looking around my office, I conveniently discovered a copy of Panty Explosion that I had printed out months ago.
Arriving at the store, I was dismayed to learn that they no longer offer wire-binding. I went with my second favorite binding: plastic coil. Since they were quite busy, I offered to pick up my order the next day.
The next day, there's another girl working the desk (Mackenzie - the one who leaves the phone messages). I tell her that I'm there to pick up a binding order. She asks for my name, and I say: "Armintrout. With an A."
She can't find my order. "Who took the order?" she asks. A blonde, I say. "Amy?" she asks. I suppose so. Still, she can't find my order.
Now an older man (a manager?) takes an interest. "What was the order?" he calls from halfway across the store. I explain that it was a rulebook that I brought in for binding. He asks what the title is.
Trying to keep a straight face, I shout back to him, "Panty Explosion!"
This seems to spark a memory in Mackenzie, who now recovers my order from behind the counter. "I thought you said your name was Wormintrout," she explains.
The cost worked out to be:
$1.99 USD 10mm spiral-binding
$1.00 USD covers (clear front, black back)
As you can see, the binding allows the book to lie flat on the table.
Since the book had a printed back cover, I should have gone with a clear back cover instead of the black.
