As a reference, in Dream Pod 9's WWII pulp game Gear Krieg, specially modified KV-2s are armed with a Tesla death ray, and they have a pair of curious-looking wheels on either side of the massive turret (generators or capacitors?). The Tesla death ray barrel can be found in the "Allies Weapons" pack (DP9-638):

I let the paint dry overnight, and then sprayed them with Krylon Crystal Clear Matte. I let that dry, and then added a dark pastel dust around the exhaust stacks to simulate soot.

I glued some flock to the base. I also mixed some of the Vallejo Game Color Earth with a pumice paste, and applied it as mud to the suspension and lower part of the hull. These steps finished off the models.

The finished models are shown in the pictures below.

This was an interesting and enjoyable project. I have no problem recommending the Army Group North kits.
