Back to 5 - FINISHING THE CENTURION

Back to Workbench

Blind Old Hag Fezian writes:

I'm no chemistry wiz but I'd GUESS that you would have to re melt the piece, or at least heat it more than a low oven or a blow dryer can do in order for the crystalline bond to be anywhere near as strong as it was originally.

Either way, my suggestion is to clip the weapon, drill and pin it together. Fill the voids with green stuff.

Sometimes, bad things happen to good miniatures

The Gorla Centurion arrives a bit bent...

In this case, despite the figure being swaddled in tissue paper and immersed in packing peanuts, the Centurion got a bit bent in shipping. (I think a customs inspector might have picked him up...)

The damage is confined to two points: the rod, and the helmet.

The Gorla's command rod is bent back sharply
  • The rod has been bent 90 degrees back, and the paint at the bend has been clearly stripped off.
  • The crest of the helmet has been slightly squashed down and back, resulting in chipping and bulging of the paint all around the base of the crest.
The helmet is bent beneath the crest
The helmet (back)

Before I begin the "doctoring" process, what do the readers of TMP advise? How should I reposition the crooked parts? How do I fix cracked and broken paint? How do I mix colors to match a discontinued paint color?
