Dread Pirate Garness writes:

The figure was then glued onto a GW large round base.

Glued to a base

Using Woodland Scenics fine ballast, I glued the texture onto the base and basecoated using GW Scorched Brown.

Base is textured and basecoated

The base was drybrushed with GW Bestial Brown, and then touched a bit with Americana Toffee.

The finished base

OK, that does it

I hope all ya'll have gotten something from my article or my painting, or just maybe a little from both.

Now, for what I have learned from all this: It is fine, well and good to paint a super well-done figure, using all the latest techniques and coping whoever's style is in vogue at the time. But at the end of the day, are you really happy doing something someone else is doing?? I think you should be happy doing what you want - whether or not everyone thinks it is a masterpiece is really quite irrelevant. So long as you paint something and you are happy with it, that is really all that matters.

Thanks, everyone, and good luck to each of you in your future endeavors!
