I decided to paint all the metals (including the base) in one go, to save a bit of time (and space in this article).
Metal Step 1
- Silver
- Basecoat of 1-part Chaos Black and 2-parts (VGC) Gunmetal Metal.
- Bronze
- Basecoat of 1 part Chaos Black and 2 parts (VGC) Tinny Tin.
Metal Step 2
- Silver
- First highlight using (VGC) Chainmail.
- Bronze
- First highlight using a 50/50 mix of Tinny Tin and (VGC) Brassy Brass.
Metal Step 3
- Silver
- I gave it several thin washes of (VMC) Smoke, allowing each layer to dry before appling the next.
- Bronze
- Second highlight using Brassy Brass.
Metal Step 4
- Silver
- I decided to add some rust, so I began with some patches of (Games Workshop) Dark Flesh.
- Bronze
- For a tarnished look, I began with some patches of (VGC) Jade Green.
Metal Step 5
- Silver
- I stippled over the Dark Flesh with some (VGC) Hot Orange, then some (VGC) Orange Fire.
- Bronze
- I applied a wash of (VMC) Verdigris over the Jade Green.
