Then we add rocks and stones to the model. We used both real pebbles, and also formed some stones out of dental plaster to get the exact assortment and placement of rocks desired.

Also at this stage is the fitting of the bases. The recesses must be sized for the figure bases. This required a bit more cutting and filling with plaster to get a good fit for the bases. Also did some build-up of plaster on the figure bases to blend the figure in with the diorama and smooth out the figure base.
