The assignment was to paint these tanks for wargaming Operation Barbarossa in 1941.

In comparing the photos to the actual models, it strikes me that the two-color paint scheme is more subtle in real life. In the photos, the edges of the lighter-colored blotches are clear - in real life, they are indistinct.

As was true with yesterday's Showcase article, my camera sometimes sees greys as blue-greys. However, there is no blue on the actual models.
