Dread Pirate Garness Now here is where it got to being really fun to do this model. The details. I started with a need to have things like vehicle ID, so I painted "JSC 113" on both sides of the tail and on top of the wings using Americana Black. I then painted the same letters in white inside the black, trying to leaving a little black lip all around the white. ![]() (It is much easier to paint inside a fat black line, than it is to try to paint a very thin black line all around white numbers and letters.) ![]() I painted a few warning signs near the end of the jets/thruster with black, and used yellow to fill in the arrowhead. Next was a thin black line near the side of the missile pods, and painted yellow stripes for a warning. I then painted a black arrow on the left side of the gun, and filled it in with yellow with "BAD GUYS" written in behind. ![]() The way I paint arrows is to paint one line about the overall length I want. I then paint a line for each side of the arrowhead, and connect them with a line. I then paint two lines parallel to the main line, and connect them at the end. This works well, because you can see what the arrow is going to look like before you try to fill it all in...and it is easy to fix, just keep painting lines till it all looks good. Plus, it is not to difficult to paint a few short, thin lines (as opposed to trying to paint an entire arrow). |
