Next, the tunic was painted using a shade color of Vallejo Black Red. A light drybrush of Americana Toffee was added to the pelt.
GW Flesh was thinned down, and then the shade regions of the skin were washed. I did not just blanket wash the entire flesh area, because the figure was so large that I could pick and chose as I needed (and it would save me more time later). The muzzle of the pelt was painted with more Americana Toffee.
The flesh was basecoated using GW Dwarf Flesh, and was blended into the shaded regions. Blending is a technique where the paint is mixed together on the figure/pallette, so the transition is as smooth as possible. In this case, what I did was to thin the paint so much that the transitions between the base color and the ink wash were "blended" with GW Dwarf Flesh. The GW Flesh was thinned to about 1-part paint to 8-parts water. It takes some time to do this, but is very forgiving if you make a mistake.
The tunic was highlighted with Vallejo Napoleonic Red.
