Time to relieve some eyestrain and paint something larger – the shield.

The shield boss is painted with Gunze Sangyo Mr. Metal Stainless. This stuff is incredible and, unfortunately, is no longer available in the U.S. - just put on a coat, buff it with a cotton swab, and it is the closest thing to metal I've ever seen. (Anybody know a source for this, please let me know! It is indispensable for making believable metal on larger resin figures.)

The shield boss is painted steel

The shield back was painted Autumn Brown, with some drybrushed streaks of Burnt Umber. The front is painted Moroccan Red. The trim is painted Vallejo Brass mixed 1:1 with Renaissance Ink Brown Ink. The upper edge was painted with pure Vallejo Brass.

(Metallics are one of the few places I do not use Delta. Craft paint metallics are too coarse.)

The same mix was used on the medals around the leader's neck.
