Rob Jedi continues: After the first area of crazy spots, it was onto the stripes. Again looking at the reference photo (I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have a laptop on your painting desk, it's just so easy to bring up reference images while you are painting, and you can chat while the paint is drying), I noticed that the main stripes behind the head where basically made up of spots joined together, so I started by doing lines of densely-packed white dots across the shoulders. ![]() I then painted stripes with black, which were basically joined-together spots. The edges were then spotted again with white to roughen it up more. ![]() Next I started on the yellow stripes. These became smaller as they went along the body. I toned down the larger stripes by adding Parrot Green to the tops of them, along the spine. ![]() |
