Paint jobs are good, but lordy, I can't stand those sculpts.

The Hellboy figures are based on the artwork of Mike Mignola.

I have been looking for an opportunity to work on these figures for some time, so was very pleased to get Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian's call to paint this set for the Workbench. Overall, they are a good set of 28mm figures - well cast and well sculpted by Richard Kerr, who has done a super job of capturing the likeness of the characters from the comics. Size-wise, they are a perfect match to Artizan WWII figures, standing a head taller than Foundry's WWII range.

Although the sculpts are not the highest quality of a Mize, Goumon or Klocke piece, they stand comparison with most gaming figures today. The set contains five figures - some one-piece, others requiring minor assembly. Minimal flash and no mould imperfections. They came packed in a video-style box, well padded with a colour jacket.

All the figures were assembled, cleaned, de-greased, and then undercoated with a very thin coat of Humbrol white enamel paint. The Baba Yaga (the witch) model I chose to use the pole from a GW flying stand to show the fact that she can fly (the original figure being cast on the ground). The others are all as per the box. All colours are from the GW range of paints (one iteration of the range or another!).

Thanks for reading this. I hope you found it interesting. I will try and answer any questions (on the painting, at least - I am by no means an expert on the Hellboy comics).
