Remember how earlier I said that I wasn't going to bother hand-highlighting the lenses on the sensor eyes?

Highlighted sensor eyes

Instead, a dot of gloss varnish - in this case, Future Floor Acrylic again - does a fantastic job of popping them out as round glass lenses with an actual depth to them, rather than flat circles with highlights painted on.

For once, it really helps to use a little too loaded a brush, here; you want the varnish to bead on the surface, to make a nice curved top to the sensor. This also ensures you never have to worry about painting the specular 'catchlights' in identical places on each eye!

Finished!

Finally, all finished and presentable. Unfortunately, the extra layers of varnish serve to perform a similar function to the filter applied earlier, only this time it's a little too much... I was almost ready to strip down and start again, but Bill seemed happy with the photos, so it was into a box and off to the States with them. On the plus side, with all that varnish, they should be well protected from any accidental knocks!
