Nice idea. One question: if these are a transportation system rather than game bases, why bother with magnet for the bases? Why not just glue them to a tray or similar? Or – alternatively – just drill post holes in a sheet of MDF, glue the pegs on and place the ships on the magnetic mounts on the pegs? Not a criticism, Bill, just a genuine question: do you need the transport bases to be seperate items if, when you get them to the game, you pop them off the transport system and mount them on their game bases? I tried something similar with the Ninja Magic adapters several years ago. The work great for smaller ships, but not larger ones. The small pin at the top of the adapter that is glued into the bottom of the ship is not strong enough for larger ships and snaps off too easily. I ended up going with Core Sec Engineering bases for large ships but kept the Ninja adapters for smaller ones. For storage, I use Plano parts trays lined with foam. |

This is more flexible, for ships of different sizes, or for changing storage as the fleet grows, or for grabbing a few ships to bring to a game. |

"One question: if these are a transportation system rather than game bases, why bother with magnet for the bases?" The magnets on the ships are both for game bases and for these transportation bases. You just swap them back and forth. |

I use the Ninja Magic adapters myself, but I would think this wouldn't work well for large ships. They hold the large ships well enough for games, but I would trust them for transportation unless you don't plan to hit any bumps on the drive to the game. Why not just put all your bases with adapters in a box and then put the ships themselves in foam trays or the like? This has been the best solution for me. |

I thought Ninja stopped making them? I understand it's just a temporary halt. I sure hope so! |

Hi guys, Ninja Magic is still on hiatus – a longer hiatus than initially anticipated, but it is still intended to be a temporary halt. The problem is that I've had to relocate twice in the last two years. The first relocation from LA to Dallas was pretty rough – I tried to keep Ninja Magic going in that first year there but things were such a disorganized mess after the move it proved too difficult and my response time to filling orders was unacceptable. Once I decided to go on hiatus and stopped selling products, I was getting things back together and even started making great progress on finishing off With Hostile Intent. Then I got unexpectedly laid off in the first part of this year which once again threw a wrench into everything. So, a few months ago we relocated yet again, this time to Orlando Florida. We just closed on our new house yesterday and all of our stuff is boxed up and waiting to be delivered from a moving company's warehouse. Needless to say, NM is going to stay on hiatus for a while longer as we once again have to unpack and get settled (which is a lot of work). It should be a little easier this time around but it'll still be another year probably before I can get to the point where I can restart Ninja Magic. I still have a bunch on inventory, and am making plans for continuing product development as well as finishing off the WHI rules so things aren't completely stagnant, but the hiatus is giving me a chance to get my ducks in a row and move forward from a better starting point. Sorry for the extended delay, had I not been laid off I might have been really close to restarting by this point. |
