Nice review Bill, thanks! Those are really nice pieces. A little too pricey for my budget though. |

They look really good, but I agree that the price is a little too steep. |

Looks quite nice. Can you post pix with some figures included so we can see the scale? How many boxes are needed to make a reasonable sized castle for a Game. At least 2 for across, and 1 for each end. 4 Boxes. That is about $560. USD What is the postage? Plus you will need stairs and interior buildings. Too pricey for me too, but nice to look at. Perhaps it could be a club project. |

Epix Haven Castle Renedra Castle Warlord Castle That's a lot of castle! All have their pros and cons. And their price tags, which I think makes it a no go for a lot of gamers – unfortunately. Though they all look quite nice I wonder how often do you really need a castle? |

In my 20+ years of fantasy wargaming, I've used my cardstock castles all of two times… I like them very much, but the reality is, they rarely get table-time, not because they're ugly, but because I rarely play a siege game. I'm currently building more towers (round), as well as square towers, and wall sections, for a wargame of a siege-type attack on a city, but it is only the third game, in 21 years, which will involve siege warfare. The deeper truth is that I really enjoy building the wall sections, and the towers -- the game is just an excuse to justify my building of the terrain pieces. Cheers! |

Hello Bobgnar (and others), I am general manager at Epix Haven and very thankful for any questions and comments regarding our stuff! Would also like to thank Bill for his excellent reviews! (And I agree with Bobgnar that some figures would be great to show the scale). But to your question of postage; we have free shipping! Our items are made in solid resin and thus heavy; that is why we have allied with Amazon to sell our stuff. As you may know, Amazon gives free shipping to customers who buys stuff with a value of over $ 49. To your question what you need for a " reasonable sized castle". It all depends if you want a full Castle, just the front, or a L-shaped one against a mountain for example. For a good front we recommend 2 Corner Towers boxes, a City Walls box and a Gatehouse box. This gives a straight line and would cost $ 600 (free shipping when purchased through Amazon). The L-shaped setup would be same as the front plus another City Walls box and another Corner Tower. This would add an extra $280. USD For the full Castle you can go with 2 front setups and then make it as big as you want with 1 City Wall box to connect the 2 fronts or more depending on your wish on size. I would also recommend adding our massive Battle Mat (40x80 inches) for $30. USD Do not forget to invest in a big table as well as our terrain is massive! The front setup alone is 106cm (approx. 42 inches) across, with option for a larger one if more walls are used. We are working on a setup now with a complete City scenario, and there is not much limits then :) Our Castle set is especially designed for sieges, though also our houses (Tudor, Stone) and Freestanding Tower could be a part of the terrain. We have also seen our Wall (which consists of three parts) been used as a low garden fence/wall placed independently around the board as low obstacles. |
