Can you believe it? This vehicle was first featured on TMP back in 2000, and now it's back on my workbench.
The short story on this model is that I found it in a dollar store, thought it would look great with my 40K Gretchin, so I bought it and painted it up.
I never actually finished that Gretchin force, as I discovered that Orks in that edition of 40K were no good for me. (Well, I was no good at playing them!)
So I recently stumbled over this model, and I thought: it deserves to have a base.
Now when it comes to large models, you always have the decision of how much base to give it. Same thing with long-armed monsters, winged creatures, etc. Do you give it just enough base so it won't fall over? Do you give it the maximum base, so it won't clank against other models in your storage box? Or do you give it the 'melee range' base, representing the reach of a monster's claws and teeth?
Well, as you can see, I went for 'maximum' size, to keep that gun barrel from getting banged up in storage. It's a wooden base from LITKO with rounded corners, and matching FlexSteel underneath for safe storage.
The next issue was that an open-topped vehicle obviously needed a crew, so I looked through my lead pile until I found a suitable figure, and painted him up.
I had intended to put him in the front of the vehicle, under the machinegun, but to my surprise, he didn't fit! So I had to put him on the back.
I'd really like to put a driver/gunner figure in the front of the vehicle, and a gunner on that behemoth machinegun, so I'll keep looking in my lead pile for anything suitable!
