My first army for Warfare in the Age of Madness (Visceral Impact Studios) is beginning to take shape! These Magravite infantry are figures from the Colony-15 range (Darkest Star Games), painted by Fernando Enterprises according to my directions. (You can see my army design here.)

Warfare in the Age of Madness

My concept was that the Magravites are an isolated community that have retrograded to feudalism after the apocalypse. I decided their 'colors' were red, white and blue – they could be apocalyptic Americans or French. These were my painting instructions:

Coat dark blue with white belt, pouches light blue, pants white, boots black, red helmet with golden plaque on front, plume red and white, skin medium brown (Asian), weapons metallic, breathing apparatus gray, goggle lenses red

I had them painted to Showcase standard. The only problem with the painting, which I did not notice on the 'approval' pictures, was that the artists were confused by the 'breathing apparatus' and thought it was part of the face; it was simple for me to repaint the breathing masks with gunmetal paint.

I based the figures using Litko 3mm plywood bases, plus FlexSteel on the bottom for storage purposes.

The Rifles

Magravite riflemen

The core of this force are seven stands of militia riflemen, mounted on 30mm x 40mm bases.

Magravite riflemen

I had enough figures (15MM1 - Magravate Militia) to put four or five figures on each base.

Magravite riflemen (behind)

I placed a unique figure on one of the bases, to mark it as the forward-observer-equipped team.

There are five poses in this pack: two firing, one kneeling and firing, one marching, and one pointing. I tried to allocate one pointing figure per stand, and to spread the marching figures around.

The other infantry figures are mounted on 30mm x 30mm bases.

Command

Magravite command

Always great to have a leader with a sword! I also bought medic ability for this stand, so I painted a medical logo on a 'marching' rifleman figure.

I asked the artist to go Super Showcase to give special treatment for the Adviser figure.

Here is the 'missile' heavy weapons team:

Still to Come...

I have the vehicles on my workbench!
