This was a fun project to convert a toy car for car-combat gaming.
I didn't want to mess with the paintjob, so when I disassembled the toy, the only parts I re-painted were bumpers, exhausts, headlights, and license plate.
The clear window insert was re-painted silver, with a hole drilled to accommodate a gun barrel from a Final Faction action figure. I also cut out a vision slot, trying to make it look ragged and hand-cut.
The toy had open front side-windows which seemed a bad idea for a combat car, so I covered over these with scrap plastic. The tires were also re-painted (one tire suffered a glue spill). Note some reflections in the photo – the original car finish is gloss.
The toy did not have a clear rear window, saving me from having to cover it up with armor plate.
I based the finished car on a LITKO 3mm wooden 40mm x 60mm base, which I primed black and flocked with black sand. LITKO FlexSteel was added to the base bottom to keep the car from sliding around in storage or when being transported.
Now I have another vehicle for the arena!
