Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian writes:

For the rules I'm planning to use, I'm allowed to field up to four of my large alien fields, so it was on for the fourth and last alien field!

Having done a ripe field, an unripe field, and a metallic field, I figured the fourth one should be a diseased or dying field. Bombed? Neglected due to war? Bio warfare? Extraglobal warming?

This also worked well, since these last cotton pods were the worst of my collection, already looking tattered and stretched.

The change I made this time was to spray the top of the cotton pods flat black, to act as shading (since I glue the pods upside-down to the bases). Then, when they are dry, I painted the other side gray. This worked well, as the black on cotton turns into a dark gray, and it looks like I've shaded the bottom of the alien plants.

I still needed to do some touch-ups where the white cotton showed through, but it kind of looked like highlights, so I didn't do much touching up. I painted the leaves with a cheap brown craft paint, to look like dried-up leaves (which, after all, is what they are!).

Otherwise, I used the same procedure described in the previous articles.

Above, you can see the finished field. Fifteen of one type of pod, and one of the other kind since I ran out of the others.

These have a more straggly appearance than my previous plants.

And finally, a close-up.

What next? I have a feeling the Hive Mind, being a horde-type army, could use the maximum amount of terrain. Should I build some other terrain types, or is it time to get a game on? grin
