As I mentioned in my previous article, I've beefing up my fantasy barbarian army.

One of the curious things about the Mighty Armies barbarians set is that there are two, somewhat rare, figures that are lumped in with the barbarian warriors: a barbarian with a mace, and a barbarian with a spear.

Well, when I acquired a mixed bag of barbarians from several sets, I found that I had three maces and one spear! I saved the spear to put on a command stand, but I couldn't resist fielding the macemen as a new unit!

I guess that's very retro of me, but I like my special infantry types. Hmmm, what special rules for a unit of macemen…

Will I treat maces as anti-armor weapons? Should I make them throwing maces? Can they spin them to repel arrows? (No, that's too much…)

The barbarian set is sold by Rebel Minis. These figures were painted by Blue Table, then based by myself on a 1" x 2" Mighty Armies plastic base.
