My wonderful wife is a crafter, and sometimes I inherit her leftover scraps. This time, she gave me three wooden balls (one with a flat side) and a wooden disk with a hole in the center. What to do with them?

Wooden balls

Well, I couldn't think of any historical purposes for these, but fantasy and sci-fi were easy…

Wooden ball

Here, I glued the ball to the disk, put it on a base, primed it black, drybrushed it with a gunmetal color, and used a silver Sharpie on the flat spot on the ball. Then I flocked the base with black sand.

Wooden ball

Now I can use it as some kind of oracle in my dungeons.

Wooden balls

Here, I took two balls, painted them copper, and mounted them on a desert base. Ancient mysteries in the desert. (Got too much sand on the balls, though…)

Wooden balls

I've shown it above with a 28mm fantasy figure, but I actually intend this for use in a 15mm post-Apocalypse setting.
