Moving at my usual glacial pace, I'm pleased to report that I've painted my first piece from the Dreadfleet boxed set - the Wind Gauge.
Big whoop? Well, I wanted to give some comfort to those other slow painters out there, like me, who take ages to finish even the simplest projects... ![]()
I simply painted the wood in two shades of brown, decided that some parts were metal and painted them in brass, then gave the whole thing a wash of brown ink. Pretty basic.
The only interesting thing is that the paint resisted the wash somewhat, giving a blotchy appearance in places. I decided that looked "aged" and decided to keep it that way.
Plus, now that I can see my work in gigantic blown-up photos, I see some places I should have touched up...
Do you have photos of your Wind Gauge? If so, please post photo links in the comments area for this article. I'm curious to see how you painted this game piece.
