has some Star Trek ships painted.
For my Alien Squad Leader project, I also picked up a pack (10 figures) of Automaton heavy infantry. The manufacturer classes these as providing "support level" firepower. The figures were painted the same as the previous automata, except for details.
In the mix, I got three automata with flamers (well, the manufacturer calls them "plasma projectors"). The flame effect was an orange basecoat, a coat of transparent red paint, then a drybrush of yellow. (I'm thinking to go back and paint the back-mounted fuel tanks gunmetal grey, to make them stand out a bit more.)
There were also three automata with mini-guns. (I don't know... with the backpack and the power cable, it looks more like a heavy triple laser to me.) I painted the cable blue to make it stand out more. (Note that the gun barrels are a bit crooked.)
The last variation are the automata with chest-mounted missile pods. I like these a lot, they look like they can fire a barrage at once. (But I wonder about reloads...) I painted the missile tips light blue.
I've ordered the new edition of the rules, so I'll soon find out if I can still use these minis as I'd planned...
