With the demise of FASA upon us, and the consequent possibility that 1/285th scale Battletech miniatures might temporarily be scarce on the shelves, it seemed timely to look at alternate manufacturers in this scale.

One of the best-distributed 1/300 scale science fiction lines in the U.S. is the Future Wars line, currently produced by Ground Zero Games, and manufactured in the U.S. under license by Geo-Hex. Most of the larger game stores in the U.S. carry this product line.

new packaging

The sales appeal of Future Wars has lately been jazzed up with the introduction of new packaging - plastic clamshell units, with color inserts.

For this Showcase article, we thought to take a look at an unusual item which most gamers may not have in their forces - product #FWSV11, Heavy Transporter with Flatbed Trailer. In military parlance, a "transporter" is a vehicle which carries military fighting vehicles to the area of combat (thus saving wear and tear on the expensive armor vehicles).

Note: Although this model is manufactured both in the U.S. and the U.K., it is sold under different names with different ID numbers. Despite reference to the U.K. catalogue, we've been unable to discern what name and product number this model has when sold in the U.K.
