I have a particular fondness for Goblins. I own acres of them! Unfortunately, almost none of them are tabletop-ready, so I sent some of them off to our friends in Sri Lanka, Fernando Enterprises.
These figures, according to my notes, were originally sold as part of Grenadier's Goblin Skirmishers pack. I've separated the spearmen out from the swordsmen for this unit. The figures are still available, now from Mirliton, as the Goblin Warriors set.
There are three poses for spear-armed Goblins. They are 13-14mm from foot to eye-level, and are slightly built.
I was persuaded long ago by one of my gaming buddies that proper Goblins are not greenskins, but yellowskins. So my generic Goblin instructions for the painters were:
Goblins – Yellow skin. Red eyes. Bamboo shields with dull steel bosses. Leather clothes/hats.
And my specific instructions for these figures were:
Wooden spear with sharp steel tip. Sword: black scabbard, brass handle.
As per my usual practice, I based the figures on plastic 1" x 2" Mighty Armies bases, contoured with spackle, painted dirt brown and flocked, given a matte sealcoat, and with LITKO FlexSteel added to the bottoms for magnetic storage.
I'm not sure how I'll field these yet – as part of a smaller army using similar figures, as part of a larger army of Goblin allies mixing them with figures from other manufacturers, or as allies for an Orc army.
