Escape from the Dark Czar is the starter set for Flintloque, a game set in a fantasy Napoleonic world. I've previously painted the Undead zombies, an Ogre, and a Dogman, and now I have finished the final two figures.
The starter set provides a skirmish-level campaign set during a wintry retreat. The figures are resin, as are the bases.
General de Brigade Hugo Saindoux is the leader of a band trying to survive the wintry retreat. I found the figure easy to paint, based on the material provided with the Digital Download version of the starter set.
I must have over-sprayed the matte seal coat, as the greatcoat has some 'crackling' effects.
Hugo's peculiarity is that he is always clutching a kettle of soup. I tried to capture the appearance of swirling soup, and put some gloss on top to give a liquid appearance.
This is the young Elven drummer boy. Once again, I relied on the starter set material for a painting scheme. I also tried to lighten the usual flesh tone to get an 'elf' skintone.
I flocked the bases with coarse white sand, and added LITKO FlexSteel on the bottoms (trimmed to fit) for storage in magnet-lined boxes.
The drummer boy was mostly easy to paint, but the drum takes patience as it is hard to get at, with several colors close together.
That completes the figures from the starter set. My next task is to build the terrain for the initial scenario.
