Now is the time to hit the retail stores, the craft stores, and the dollar stores in search of oddball Christmas decorations you can turn into obstacles to fight over! (Well, you could wait for the after-Christmas sales, but the good stuff might be gone by then...)

Giant, dangerous pod-trees

For instance, who is to say whether the Venusian jungles really are infested with giant sparkly trees with spiraling tendrils?

Watch out!

OK, so maybe I went a little overboard this time - but it was fun. I took a Christmas sparkly pinecone, stuck it into some Crayola modeling clay, and stuck a Christmas leafy-with-tendrils candle holder on top. I finished it up by gluing a layer of tan "rocks" from a jar of decorator stones. Total cost: $3 (not counting the clay and glue)

Is it too late?
