I like to get a good deal. I used to buy a lot from the online auction websites. (I'm reformed now.) And sometimes, I buy secondhand collections of unpainted figures from TMP members, budget allowing.
Which in part explains why I have yet another set of the same Goblin Wolf Rider figures! These come from the Mighty Armies Orc army boxed set, and during the period many years ago between Mongoose Publishing discontinuing them and Rebel Minis acquiring them, you could pick these up cheap online!
The old boxed sets provided eight models, enough to make two stands in the 'old' Mighty Armies basing system. I must have collected these from two boxes, as I have 16 figures, which – based three per stand, the 'new' basing standard – gives me six stands (two of which have only two models).
A lot of gamers today class Goblins in with greenskins, but years ago I had a good friend who was quite insistent that Goblins were yellowskins, so I have mostly gone with that skin color in my collection.
I chose a dark painting scheme this time, as I thought it would make the Goblins look more menacing.
These models were painted for TMP by our friends at Fernando Enterprises in Sri Lanka.
I then based the painted figures on Mighty Armies plastic bases.
I believe this is the last of my wolf riders, but who knows what lurks in the lead pile…
