I previously wrote about my plans to field a sci-fi version of ISIS on the tabletop, and I'm pleased to show the completed soldiers of SISI (the futuristic not-ISIS in a post-apocalyptic world).

Thanks to Flashpoint Miniatures for providing their 15mm Iraqi Insurgents and Taliban Insurgents figures.

Thanks also to PhilGreg Painters for painting these figures for us. (They actually painted all 48 figures from two packs, though we only needed a few for the current project.)

One little glitch is that my instructions weren't sufficiently clear, and the painters did not understand that some of the figures were wearing something on their face. The poor painters heroically painted mouths and beards in strange places! I corrected the figures where needed.

Perhaps I should have sent the painters the catalog photos of the figures, but I was worried they would think that was how I wanted them painted, rather than just using them to better understand the figures.

I based the figures on Litko 3mm wooden bases with FlexSteel underneath. I experimented with a coarser sand than I usually use.

Command Stand

There's even someone carrying a holy book...

Insurgents in Robes

On the 'fighters' stands, I kept the fighters in robes separated from the fighters in uniform, as that seems to reflect ISIS practice. It won't make a difference in the rules, but maybe I'll expand the force someday and formally divide the fighters up.

This stand has some anti-tank capacity.

Insurgents in Uniforms

SISI insurgents

The real-life ISIS use a wide variety of uniforms, apparently depending on what they can find or what the local leader finds stylish, so I felt safe using this camo scheme.

SISI insurgents

I assume the fighters in uniform are either defectors from another army, or fighters who have been in SISI service long enough to have been issued uniforms (and, therefore, veterans... but not in the game stats).

One of these stands also has anti-tank capacity.

I didn't 'pay' for heavy weapons, so the larger guns are just cosmetic.

There are only five infantry stands in this 'army', as the rest of the points were spent on technicals (improvised fighting vehicles). Those are still on my workbench!
