I've finished basing the rest of the figures from the Team Yankee 1:100 Motor Rifle Company, including a few odds and ends.
(Yes, in the back there's another command team and RPG team…)
As I said last time, all that's left is to base up the rifle teams now.
You get ten AK-74 Assault Rifle Teams in the boxed set, on the usual World War III: Team Yankee medium bases.
These 1:100 scale figures were painted by our friends at Old Guard Painters, matching the box art.
When the figures came back from the painting service, I followed the clear instructions from the box, sorted out the figures, and glued them into the holes in the bases. Different bases have holes in different places, helping to provide variety in the result.
I then filled in any gaps with spackle, painted the base brown, added green flock, sealed with a matte clear coat, and slapped on LITKO FlexSteel base bottoms (for storage in magnet-lined boxes).
I found the online instructions brief and rather vague. It says that rifle teams have certain figures, and unit leaders have certain figures, but it gives no count of how many of each you should have, and no illustration of the specific figures. Half of my rifle teams have a 'waving' figure which I guess is a leader. The other half are 'regular' rifle teams, and maybe they have soldiers with RPKs and grenade launchers if I guessed right! I only had two radio operators, which I placed on the command stands; I didn't have enough to put on the rifle team/leader stands as instructed.
Note that, from this boxed set, I've somehow ended up with one extra command team, and three extra RPG teams (but had to supply the extra bases on my own).
That finishes up the Motor Rifle Company, so next will be some armor!
