celebrates the end of a long, long project.
I was going through my figures lately, and noticed one which hadn't had Flex Steel added to the base bottom. I buy self-adhesive Flex Steel circles from Litko in sizes to match my bases. This helps them to not get knocked around when placed in my magnet-lined storage boxes.
So I took this figure to my workbench, added putty to the base bottom to give it some heft, let it dry, then attached the Flex Steel disk. Curiously, I was using a 30mm Flex Steel disk, but the actual base was 29mm (!), so I had to do some trimming by hand.
I usually label the bottom of the base with some information about the figure, so I went to check my files. I remembered that this model was from Bronze Age Miniatures, and my records indicated it was commissioned in 2008 for painting to Stephen Hughes in the U.K.
I had a note that the painter received the model:
He arrived today and he's a lovely bit of kit!
The painter said that his inspiration in painting the figure would be the film Beowulf and Grendel (at that time, the manufacturer was considering naming the figure Grendel – ultimately, it became Troll #1).
Then I have no more records, but I presume that the figure arrived here at TMP, then got lost in the shuffle when I moved to the new house around that time frame.
Since the model has never been featured on TMP as far as I can tell, here at last is the painted Troll!
The figure is approximately 32mm from bottom of foot to top of back, and 58mm from back of foot to fingertip.
Apologies to the painter for the long delay, but your Troll is now destined for the dungeon!
