I've been interested in the KR 16 rules and figure lines for some time, so I picked up a starter pack a while back.
This is a skirmish-level science-fiction ruleset where 6mm infantry are based individually. The background is a colony world with multiple factions, the most developed of which are the Regional Defense Force (RDF) (sort of the world police) and the Junkers (rebellious colonists).
I dipped my toe into the waters by painting up one pack of RDF infantry. The RDF Grunts set consists of ten troopers: five walking, four firing, and one bareheaded female trooper. Plastic disks are also provided as bases.
Varying from the background, I decided my RDF troops would have a "peaceful blue" uniform. I also decided the female trooper would be blonde, because it would stand out better.
I started by spray-priming the figures and the plastic disks white. Then, because I was concerned about the figures not having enough traction and slipping down hillsides, I sprayed the bottoms of the disks with a textured paint to give them a rougher surface.
Next, I superglued the figures to their individual disks, then used a little quick-drying plaster to smooth the figures into the bases.
The figures were painted blue, drybrushed with a lighter blue, then washed with a blue ink. I then painted the details: faces and hands (flesh) and guns (black with a silver drybrush). The base bottoms were painted dark gray.
The final step was to paint the ground tan, then when it was dry, apply white glue and dip the bases into sand.

Maybe something other than sand would have been a better ground cover... they look a bit like they are standing on sugar cookies.
That's the female trooper, above center. I'll probably use her as a leader.

I think the figures look good enough, and now that I have a technique, I should be able to paint up the other troopers easily. However, I'll admit that the company's catalog pictures are far superior to my paint jobs!
