Following on from the scout cars, I have added the Zelda armored personnel carrier to my forces.
This is the American M-113, as heavily modified in Israeli service.
This particular model has the prominent diverter, so that the engine exhaust comes out by the tracks.
These models were purchased from Skytrex apparently seconds before the range was sold to Heroics & Ros.
However, these models do not seem to be listed in the Heroics & Ros online catalog yet.
Everything said about painting and basing the scout cars pretty much applies here, except that I went for a "heavily used" look this time - harsh highlights, dirty-looking shadows.
I also used a black ink wash to accentuate the running gear.
I had a hard time getting the Israeli Sand paint to cover well, then had more trouble getting my black ink wash to settle everywhere I wanted it to.
Some of the models have a prominent side seam which is difficult to remove. I just tried to make it less noticeable.
The molds for these models are showing their age. The rear of the model is not well defined, and the running gear detail is not in good condition. However, these Zeldas will still fight just fine on my tabletop...
