Ship of the Line was the Battleline square-grid predecessor to Wooden Ships and Iron Men. No counters. You ruled the table with a square grid, if you were playing the official way. Battleline followed it with the first WS&IM boardgame with a hex grid, and then AH picked that up.

It had an Armada expansion to cover the Renaissance.
