Principles of War: Renaissance

The rules have a simple mechanism with the emphasis on leaders’ command and control. This is to represent the problems of commanding troops in battle which confronted generals, rather than how many casualties each unit was taking at each stage of the battle. The rules have been playtested on 6’ x 4’ tables, if using larger tables deployment distances, position of baggage etc should be increased proportionately.

Some of the systems used in POW originally appeared in the “Warring Empires” wargame rules published by Chris Pringle in 1992. The innovations in these rules have been refined and improved and Chris Pringle fully endorses the ongoing development of the rules system.
