Six of the scenarios are "learning" scenarios for use with the Basic or Intermediate Rules. The remaining scenarios use the Standard Rules. While the Optional Rules are not typically required, their use is occasionally suggested by a scenario. Spell Users are optional for both sides in many scenarios.
The ready-to-play scenarios have extensive "special rules" to make each battle individual -- for instance, rules about high winds, traps, special equipment (in one scenario, grappling hooks), hidden placement, weather or visibility.
