The combat module for the Fables game system, covering everything from duels to mass engagements. Players take turn activating units, but the actions of an activated unit can cause enemy units to activate, which in turn can cause more friendly units to activate - leading to a battlestorm as multiple units resolve their actions together. Advanced rules add leaders, formations, morale, charges, and combat modifiers. A points system allows players to design their own armies, while guidelines control the balance of the force and limit the inclusion of allies. The rulebook includes an overview of the world of Lharna, and an introduction to selected nations and races (elves, dwarves, humans, orcs, goblins, trolls, undead). The background is original rather than traditional - dwarves are fascist, and orcs are allied to humans. Later supplements plan to add magic, psionics, faith-healing, and role-playing to the Fables system.
