"How good are Indian (Asian) armies in FoG:R?" Topic

My FoG:R doubles partner and I would like to broaden our competition horizons. Having just played in a competition that saw Sudanese/Hausa and Mapuche armies finish 1st (by a long, LONG way) and 3rd, we decided we are bored with the usual Euro-trash (well, they are when we handle them) and we want to look at "horde" armies that also have a modicum of quality (so not entirely "all about the break point"). We both have some odd Indian figures lying around, so we thought we'd start off in that direction.

We're looking at any of the main armies for the 1550-1600 period – possibly up to 1650 – and would be grateful for any SWOT analysis on each of the following, having not actually encountered any (or possibly actually even seen one) ourselves.
- Maratha
- Mughal
- Rajput
- Muslim
- Hindu (including later Sinhalese + Dutch)

[Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats for any non-marketing types out there in Leadpileland.]

Oh, and if any UK readers have unpainted figures (especially Two Dragons/Caliver, but preferably not Essex) they'd like to off-load, do PM me and we can chat.

Hi, I played with Marattas at the World teams in Derby and came fourth. I came unstuck against armoured Japanese. Against European armies, I took a TYW German army apart two weeks ago. The strength of the army is its size at 800 points with 20 battle groups and loads of heavy foot spears and lots of shoots stuff.
I do not have any unpainted stuff but will probably look to sell my Essex figures painted army as I feel like a change. Army also has other units to convert it to other Indian armies.

John – Thanks for that reply. I've seen your painted stuff, and it's excellent – but, sadly, way beyond our collective budget (and also it's Essex, which my partner doesn't like).

Seriously? Nobody else plays FoG:R with Indian armies?

Sadly, I don't think anybody else plays with Mughals/Indians in any system.
