Has anyone used the Viking ammendments in the TFL 2012 Christmas special with Dux Britanniarum? How well does it work?

My first game of Dux was the Viking variant. Messed up the rules a bit but it was a lot of fun.

Main thing to remember, especially if you bought the cards, Is that Saxons = Vikings, and that British = Saxons.

It wasn't clear to me how peasant rabble are different from levy other than the inability to form a shieldwall. I guess that is what makes them "brittle"?

Speaking of which, it is nice having both sides able to form shieldwalls.

On berserkers, I am still forming an opinion.

The ability to ignore the first kill on a shieldwall (and the advantage for shieldwalls uphill) makes a huge difference to levy survivability.
