Greetings All

I ran 3 games of Day of Battle 4 at Fall In. I took a different path this time in how I ran the game. In the past I would just setup a big game for 4 to 6 players and we would have at it. Towards the end I would mention how the game is really designed to play your Warlord "commander in chief" game to game to build up his strengths and his army.

Well this time I set up three mini games set with a historical battle flavor. These three gmaes were played as a battle but there was very little crossover between them because the players were so invloved. Anyway what made this so different was I ran the same game three times in a 4 hour period. The first game only went 3 turns and in this game I didn't let any of the players Warlords die or be captured. Three turns was enough time for nearly all of the players to grasp the game so they could run it themselves.

After the game I gave out honor points and the players adjusted their stats and then reset the troops where they started. As a twist I allowed the players to keep their Warlord but change their army. They could command a different battle in the same army or change sides. Very medieval. To further mix it up I allowed the player with the lowest honor point score choose first. Sort of like a New England swap Christms party. The second game went 4 turns and the third game went 5 turns. We had 1 player from each game cross what we call a social rank level and they gained an additional unit of troops. The experiment went very well and all the players had a great and a very different sort of time. I think this will be my method from now on.

Regards

Chris Parker

That's a great idea Chris since one of DoB strengths is the Role Play/Campaign system. Glad things are moving along. If only I and my friends actually had time to get a game or two in.
