I've posted some pictures here from a game we play tested recently for Fall In.

Figures are 25mm scale. A map can be found on the webpage under the Battle of Durazzo.

Those look great. A little bit of color balancing and they would be perfect. Great game, wish I had been there to play!

Nice to see the Normans getting some love – not sure if all those figs are suitable for 1081 AD though!

How has v.4 gone down with con attendees? How to the games differ from v.3 – quicker? I have a copy of an early v.4 playtest version – a hard copy is on my "to buy" list

Most the of the figures are correct but I just had to place down my favorite crossbow unit though they are GW Empire I think. Well it's fantasy history right?

v4 is a lot faster and deadlier than v3. I'm also happy to say that I'm done. I really like where the v4 wound up. Like most writers I always felt I had missed the mark by just a little bit in the past but moved on. This time I really feel satisfied. I really am pround of the morale system. You check by the battly line not the unit. As the battle line gets stresed units start to fall back and then just run. Really resolves the battle fast when it's over.

The game runs very well at conventions. It is so fast that I usually run a three turn game and the players learn the system. Then we reset the game and I let them adjust the troop placements and promotions since they know the rules. Then we play the real game. This way nobody says "If I'd only known that rule".

Alex … those are probably just Italian mercenaries journeying through time, Leonardo Da Vinci being what he was, of course. ;)

Seriously, click that link that greenknight4 provided in his first post, and you'll see all sorts of Norman era figures. His collection is very large.

I've played Day of Battle, 4th edition, both as a multi-player game, and with individuals. Its quite fun and playable. The morale system seems like a good simulation of what could be imagined to have happened from reading history. There are also some interesting rules for creating warlords, as well as their development in campaign situations.

I was only teasing about the crossbowmen!

Nice looking figures and good AAR.

Alex

I know you were teasing.

War Minister

I must admit the AAR isn't much but I am running the event at Fall In and will post a better one afterwards.

Those are Braganza's Besiegers. A Dogs of War unit from Warhammer 5ht and 6th edition. A beauty.

And this Battle Report is awesome!
