any ideas of what to use for "winning" markers in HC? Beleive it or not, at the game we had last week we actually forgot (or at least had to really think about) what side won the last combat. I was skeptical until it happened to myself. do ya'll use anything? thanks! -Stew |

I haven't played these rules but what about putting a roman banner (that thingy with the eagle on it) on a base to show a win for the other side use a cows skull on a stick to show a win for the barbarian tribes. Thoughts? |

Our Club uses Foam makers that say Won. The Foam you can get at any craft store..Michaels, AC Moore, etc. We use Shield markers for Hits with plastic Chips for shaken. (One guy is using extra plastic body parts like Hands and Legs mounted on round bases for Hits with a Head to equal the stamina before going over) |

for hits, i have causalty markers that hold a die, and when it has 6 face up it is shaken (naturally). though sometimes the battle field is crowded so we just put the die on the movement tray of the unit. for disordered i just have colored buable. so i too thought about the banner idea, because it would be cool and epic looking, but i somewhat dismissed it by knowing it wold require doing another 15 banner figures (say 7 per side, would need one for each engagement) which sounds like work. this is more of a 'if i have the time and energy' i DID NOT think of using something as simple as a little marker that says won. might be easy to gusy it up to with a little flock and a shield. thanks for the feed back. please add more ideas if you think of them. -Stewart |

Stewart Why not contact Warbases – very good crowd to deal with and I am sure they could help you out! You can always jazz up the marker with a suitable figure celebrating or holding up a suitable head perhaps? war-bases.co.uk Garry |

I based individual figures with detachable colored discs to use as markers. Different colors represent different states or abilities, including marking a unit that is "winning".
I place a figure with an orange base next to each of my warband units. Once the warband charges and uses its Wild Fighters ability (only available on the first round of combat in the game), I can remove the marker. If the warband happens to prove victorious, I can easily swap the orange base for a purple disc to remind myself the unit receives a "Winning" bonus the next time they're in combat. |

i saw those and they are very nice. I also like the idea of having a figure for wild fights. in general i really like the ideas for figures for a marker but it seems like a long term project for me when i feel i have surplus figures. for the time being, i think i'll stick with a pretty marker of some sort, because painting a shield and ground cover is pretty quick (or even using a decal). when i get around to making some I will post a picture. I hope to have my HC project complete by end of May. |

taadaa! (one month later) so this is what i came up with, really just some generic dark age markers (i do HC set in that time period). these will also be able to do double duty as shieldwall markers in WaC. nothing to fancy but functional.
