Are there any particular rules governing how fast a unit can move backwards, but with its front still facing the foe? Is there ever an advantage to turning your rear to the enemy and making a full retreat (not broken by a morale check)?

I'd have to check but isn't movement backward at half-speed?

You about face and retreat to gain the extra speed. I believe the technical name for the maneuver is "Run Away."

It even acknowledges that this is different than most rulesets, so there it is. No more RUN AWAY! moves needed :)

Sometimes it pays to lure your enemy into breaking his formation but all to often this is done after a reaction test and you are the one whose line is fragmented.

You may have a weaker 'refused' flank and wish to delay combat as long as possible?

Good tactic for skirmishers seeking to stay out of contact.

Frequently, a unit will need to move backwards to take itself out of proximity/facing. This is done to either re-establish facing on a different unit, or to disengage and move some distance away.

But I like saying that when my units ACTUALLY RUN AWAY!
