Hi,
When do you start removing stands from a unit? Is it the number of casualties that exceed its stamina rating?

Deleted because I failed to note the Hail Ceasar message board before my fingers went crazy on the keyboard. : > )

There is no casualty removal in HC. The whole unit stays until the end. Once a unit become shaken after it takes hits over its stamina. Shaken applies a penalty to dice rolls and prevents the unit from being ordered into combat.

Just to expand on what Ran the Cid described, if and when a unit is broken, the entire unit is considered to be effectively 'destroyed' and is removed from the battlefield.

HC 'as written', all in all is a pretty quick way of playing, having played BP, they basically work the same.

However Im one of those that like to see units being reduced due to 'casualties'. So I have an idea to keep it simple and remove stands as well.

Using my own imagination D A army for example.
4 bases of 4 figs = 16 fig's per "regiment"

Game as usual, but when you fail your morale remove only One base. Continue game.
When another unit takes its fatigue/stamina points and fails the morale check a 2nd base is removed. This is the 'last straw' for the regiment.
IF they once again reach the stamina level and fail their 3rd morale roll, THEN the entire unit (or whats left of it) is removed.

TIP If you feel this makes the game too long, you could reduce the Stamina point.

Just a suggestion.

Do you then replace stands when the unit rallies?

Cheers

And the question is unanswered still?
