I'm painting up some Wargames Foundry Viking archers and want to use them with HC. How are you HC veterans basing archers in the dark ages period? |

Well, I'm doing 15mm but for what it's worth… If they are light infantry, they are 2 per base, 40x20mm bases. If they are skirmishers, they are mounted individually and placed on a movement tray to speed/easy play. Lets them do double duty in skirmish gaming and makes the difference between lights and skirmishers easy to see. |

I do 2 or 3 per stand to represent a different density of archers and then give the 3 per stand an extra dice. |

A couple of options for 28mm. Do as Extra Crispy does and mount them singly and use sabots and/or movement trays for formed infantry. Options For skirmishers – 2 figures on an 80x40mm base (handy for Art de la Guerre). So bases 2 wide and 2 deep covers the front of a standard unit. For light infantry 2 to a 40mm square base. When used as skirmishers 4 bases cover the front of a standard unit, as formed light infantry bases 2 wide and 2 deep is a reasonable compromise. Hope that helps. |
