I've been drawing up some rough orders of battle to aid in planning which units to assemble, and how many, for my Second Punic War project using Hail Caesar.

A secondary motivation is to make up for the dearth of Orders of Battle for Hail Caesar in the Punic Wars online.

First was the battle of Trebia 218 BC link
(Note: I use 20 Celts to a warband)

Second is the ambush at Lake Trasimene.

(Note: I went with 40,000 Carthaginians as I couldn't find a historical reference for the figure of 55,000 that is sometimes quoted.)

Feedback welcome.

"Lost Battles" is a must for determining orders of battle based on historical sources.

@davbenbak Yes, Professor Sabin's work in gathering all the sources and striving for fidelity to the historical troop numbers is very useful indeed.

Though if one is using his work to derive orders of battle for other systems that don't attempt to make the fighting power of each unit equal, one will have to convert his battle lists into "true" proportions. This usually means many more units of light infantry and skirmishers.

The ambush at Trasimene is a notable absence from Lost Battles, though someone may have done a scenario for it somewhere.
