Hey,

Could some people give me a detailed review on Ares? It would help.

Even better, here is the demo

mj12games.com

The only thing the Demo does not have is troop construction, and the Magic System.

The best fantasy skirmish out there.

You're not talking about the FASA game, right?

No, it's by mj12 games.

Best Fantasy Skirmish game out there in my opinion.

It's pretty far up there. Certainly has the best troop design system for any fantasy skirmish game out there. :)

Hey,

Well does any one have their own unbiased opinion of the game?

I'm think about using the lord of the rings theme. But first can anyone also tell me games workshop's version of it…

The 'For The Masses' mass combat game looks very good too. No experience with Ares though.

They ran a LotR game at GenCon in 05 I think using Ares.

Seems like it would work pretty darn well to me. They have a scaled down set of rules for download on their site, it should give you the general idea.

It's pretty much infinitely adaptable from D&D to LotR. There are even people that use it for Sci-fi and Wild West, which it was never intended for, but it still works out well.
