I'm hosting a game next week for my regular wargaming partner using Comitatus. Now I really like the look of these rules and would be pleased if my opponent took to them too.

My question is what number of units a side would give us the best experience as newbies to Comitatus?

Any help much appreciated.

I'd say 3-5 units a side to learn the rules.

I'd probably go just a little bit bigger, say 6 to 8 with a sub-commander.

Yes 6-8 units with one or two subordinate commanders is about right for a small game.
