On Saturday 17th March Rob Broom (the author) will be running demo games of his new Ancients rule set War & Conquest at the Midlands Wargames Centre. He will be bringing a couple of armies and will run an introductory game for everyone to get used to the rules and will then help anyone who wants to play a game using either their own army or his. If you want to use your own army just bring along a standard 2500pts COE or 2000pts WAB army which, Rob tells me, is ideal for a game of War & Conquest. I'm going to buy this set of rules simply because Rob Broom is involved. His influence on the old version of WAB and associated historicals during his time at Warhammer Historicals was nothing but positive. Plus, having played against him at a Huntingdon Games Day (in the UK) several years ago I was totally impressed with his positive attitude and sportsmanship. His Arabs took on my Byzantines in a game that lasted to the very last turn. He drove my Cataphracts off the table at the last moment to win, and then he danced a bizarre jig around the table to celebrate his victory. My mind is permanently scarred with the image! We discussed gaming philosophy on that day and at several shows around England. Definitely someone I could play with again. Ray |

All of which is very nice, but doesn't mean the rules are going to be historical. |

Didn't claim that they were! Just adding a fun anecdote. |

There is only one way to find out if they are historical or not and that is to come along and have a go! |

We have more information here link and here scarabminiatures.com Looking forward to the trip up on Saturday. Ray, thanks for the comments!. If I recall, my 'jig' was involved with me rolling a handful of dice to really get them warmed up for an important dice roll. Not so sure if I can do it nowadays (knees and getting old!), but I recall some good Huntingdon gaming days, always worth the trip. (We have our first gaming day on the 25th, for those interested, only a couple of spaces left.) kind regards Rob Broom scarabminiatures.com warandconquest.co.uk |
