Pretty pictures. Is War and Conquest a rules set? Never heard of it if so. |
Old Guy | 11 May 2015 10:56 a.m. PST |
It is indeed a rules set, it allows large battles from the Ancient to Medieval period and is an excellent game to play. Have a look at scarabminiatures.com especially the forums. |

Hi George, Was there some advantage under the rules in playing large units of Roman Legionaries? From the photo's it looked you had two units of 24 and two of 27. |

Hi John, my own armies at the moment are Dark Ages with an Early Imperial Roman waiting on the sidelines. I personally will probably go with 24's, on this occasion the person who lent me the army had the normal legionaries in 27's so that is what I used. On a couple of occasions it helped because with their casualties the warbands could not claim +1 for outnumbering me, this was a bit of a pain as I fought loads of them. The make up of the army suited me, but now that I have a bit more experience, 24 man units might enable me to sneak in another skirmish unit at 2500 points. |

Hi George, I have a large EIR army which mainly fought under WAB, I always used to have the Legionaries in units of 24, mainly to gain rank bonus'es. I have just started to get into W&C and will be fighting a Barbarian army shortly, so it was interesting reading your bat reps. I am still getting my head around the subtle differences between the two rule sets.Is there any advantage to deploying in a line 12*2 to deep 6*4? |

John, email me on ganderson52@btinternet.com I'll be able to 'talk' (sounds daft) easier on tactics. George |

Nikator Yes it is a ruleset , details link All army lists are free online Johnp4000 – width is important, as it limits the chances of being flanked – looks better on the table top and increases the number of models fighting. You don't get as much rank bonus in W&C, which is deliberate to encourage the wider formations – it also helps as it gives you a wider 'frontal attack zone' which is important when declaring charges and what can be contacted. Other questions – just email or contact us via the Scarab Forum and we will be happy to help thanks Rob |

Thanks for that Rob, yes I will join your board, have been impressed by these rules.I noticed one Roman player seemed to be using the Maniples rule, did that hold up against pike blocks and warbands? The lines of Triari look weak to me? |
